Depends what phone you already have. Last week Steve Jobs walked onto stage and proudly unveiled the new iPhone(4) running iPhone OS4 now called iOS4. Leaked images had already promoted questions about specific features on the device, for example the front facing camera, a higher resolution screen and rear camera with an LED flash and lastly, three gaps along the stainless steel band, which turned out to be the atnenas for wifi, gps and calls. They also managed to re-brand video calling as “Face Time”… original. So apart from being an over specified phone, neatly packaged into a compact attractive unit, the features excluding the six axis gyroscpe and 327ppi screen, have featured in mobile phones before.
So you own an iphone3Gs or recently bought one, if it’s the later take it back if you can, wait for the launch of the iPhone 4. If you cant too bad, but your not missing out considering the iOS4 update will be out in just over a week and all features will work, give or take for hardware only found in the new iPhone4. Everyone else, if you can stretch your purse and grab the new iPhone then this is a good buy. As I said before the features your getting aren’t new, Apple are notorious for being late to the game but they nearly are always the best, and the iPhone 4 may finally get user acceptance for features like video calling, a technology that’s been around since 2000 in mobile devices and has failed to take off.
Below is launch video from Apple showcasing the new features and let us know if your as amazed as Scott Forstall 1 minute and 4 seconds in and following that hands on tour round the phone.
