Having just bought Palm, Hewlett Pacakrd have clearly set out their intentions to use the Palm webOS environment in it’s recently killed tablet device, the HP Slate. Having received poor early reviews just over 3 weeks ago, HP announced that the Windows 7 platform was not a suitable OS, due to poor performance . In the meantime, HP was busy eying up Palm, which was struggling to compete in the smartphone market against the ever growing popularity of the iPhone and Android platform, as well as loosing key figures within the company.
However, in the hands of HP, the webOS could find itself in a range of devices, including the HP Slate now codenamed “Hurricane”. The merger between HP and Palm is still being carried out and should be plete by the end of July 2010, which means you should expect to see the “Hurricane” if it comes to fruition, just in time for September 2010. Stay tuned.
